Limestone Coast Training was recently awarded $4750 in funding from the ANZ Seeds of Renewal grant program. The grant will help support work in promoting employment, training and support for people in the region.

Titled ‘Keeping them Home’, will enable students to receive additional Individual Support (Ageing) training in ‘Home and Community’ Services. Graduates will obtain skills to work with elderly people in need or people with support needs in their own home.

Limestone Coast Training Manager, Mardi Riley said ‘We will have a greater number of qualified carers our service providers can employ to assist the elderly, people with disabilities, or those requiring assistance.

‘This will hopefully enable these people to remain in their home in our community’.

More than $250,000 was shared amongst 29 other groups from across regional Australia in 2016 with more than $4 million supporting 750 projects over the past 14 years.

The program, funded by ANZ and independently administered by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRF) aims to build local capacity, increase access to employment and develop greater participation at a local level in communities of fewer than 15,000 people.

Training will commence mid-year for the Limestone Coast Training students.
